Jeremy Malherbe
I have been working in the web industry for over 10 years, starting out as an Electronic Engineer and delving into the server side using Perl. I spent the first 7 years of my post student life abroad, based mostly in London, UK but also in India, Germany and the USA. During this time I became an expert in Content Management using the commercial product Interwoven Teamsite. Using this CMS product I really got into the world of Content Mangement.
The programming skills I used during this phase was mostly Perl with quite a bit of HTML and JavaScript thrown in. Most of the work was performed on Unix based servers so bash became a handy tool.
While abroad I started to delve into OpenSource languages and got hooked on PHP. Since then I’ve developed a number of sites in a freelance capacity using PHP, CSS, HTML and JavaScript. I also got hooked on Ubuntu during this period and continue to use this OS in my home.
After returning to South Africa I started delving into the world of Microsoft. I have now been programming in C# for 3 years. The MVC (Model View Controller) architecture is something that has also grown into my repertoire.
I am now working on a freelance basis developing websites and applications, as well as performing a consultancy role in TeamSite for clients abroad.
I have recently starting looking into the Android framework and have produced my first application.
